Managing tasks in fast-paced teams can get tricky—especially when overdue tasks slip through the cracks. This automation ensures your project managers never miss a beat by flagging overdue Trello cards, logging them to Supabase, and pinging your PM group on Telegram every morning at 8AM.
Bonus: You can also push the data to Google Sheets for easy reporting and analytics.
How the Task Escalation Automation Works
- Scheduled Trigger at 8AM: The workflow starts daily using the Cron node to fire at exactly 8AM.
- Get Trello Cards: It fetches all cards from your selected Trello board.
- Filter Overdue Tasks: A Filter node checks which cards are past their due date and not marked as ‘Done’.
- Apply ‘Overdue’ Label: The automation checks if the ‘Overdue’ label already exists. If not, it adds it—no duplicates.
- Log to Supabase: Task metadata (e.g. card name, due date, URL, board ID) is logged into Supabase for tracking.
- Send Telegram Alert: A formatted message with links and card details is sent to your #pm-escalations Telegram group.
- (Optional) Google Sheets Logging: For additional reporting, task info can be recorded into a Google Sheet.
Tips and Variations
- Customize the filter to skip weekends or exclude specific Trello lists.
- Use conditional logic to escalate cards that are overdue by more than 3 days separately.
- Enhance reporting with charts in Google Sheets or integrate with Slack instead of Telegram if preferred.
